In the middle of our snowed-in April day . . . kid’s home for spring break . . . all of us wishing to be somewhere warm . . . my father walks in and says, “Have you seen her? Have you heard her?” “Who?” we ask wondering what could make my British father so agitated in the middle of the day. “Why Susan Boyle . . . she is everywhere, you have to hear her sing!” My dad made my 15 year old daughter pull up YouTube and we unwillingly pulled ourselves from the couch where we had been rooted reading since lunch. (No tennis or park during this spring break day with the 6 inches of snow we have!) We watched as Susan Boyle came on stage doubtfully and then as she introduced herself and sang we were reduced to actual shock then tears. She sang my favorite song from Les Miserables and even my kids were speechless. For any of us who have ever dreamed a dreamed, hoped for something better . . . she proved it beautifully as we watched her sing today . . . and something beautiful was reborn in me . . . we, the world, need more people, more hopeful stories like Susan Boyle. This day no longer seems cold! All things are possible, “my life {will}be so different from this hell I’m living” Yay for dreams! Kim Power Stilson
